Modernism
The term Modernism refers to a movement, which began to get under way in the closing years of the 19th century. The modernist movement affected poetry, fiction, drama, painting, music and architecture. The true birth of modernism in poetry is often dated to the publication of T.S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" in 1917. Modernist poets were concerned with breaking away from established rules, traditions and conventions, and finding a distinctive contemporary mode of expression, through many experiments in both form and style, the main concern was language and how to use it the most effective way.
