"Globalization is in the saddle and rides mankind " Arthur Schlesinger Jnr. However over exaggerated this statement may be there is some truth to it .The truth, the fact, that globalization is inevitable, regardless of whether it is to have a positive or negative effect on the Nation-state and therefore the people, who are to be protected by the nation-state, whose power is being undermined by the Multinational Corporations, who view globalization in appositive light. These essay will explore the effects that globalisation has on the power of the Nation-State.
Globalization is the process of the intensification of economic, political, social and cultural relations across international boundaries .It is aimed primarily at the transcendental homogenization of political and socio-economic theories across the globe. It deals with the increasing integration of the world market (Fafowara.1998, 5). Ohuaburwa.1999, 20,also stated that "Globalization can be seen as an evolution which is systematically restructuring interactive phases among nations by breaking down barriers in the areas of culture, commerce, communication and several other fields.
It is therefore safe to say "National governments have to play to their audience if their nation is to survive, and their audience is capital." Therefore the decision making process is now being controlled by the TNC's and not the nation-state. It's essential for survival, as some production is better than none and as Didgby Jones stated: "Manufacturing is essential rather than optional to a healthy economy."
