Obesity in Australian Children

The Grange Family enjoys eating together as a family whenever they can. But an issue for them is the health problems of each of the individual family members, and being able to prepare one dish that is applicable and satisfying to each individuals needs. The goal is to prepare a budget family meal that all four family members can enjoy, and consult and make subjections to each member on ways to improve there health and live with such health issues that some family members might have to face in the near future.

Each member of the family is different, and thus too is there food requirements, but you are not wanting to prepare 4 different meals, so it is required that we prepare a dish that all members are able to involve. The issues of main interest in the Grange family where:

* Jill: Over weight and busy schedule

* Peter: Minot Heart Attack at 40 years old

*Lachie: Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Lactose Intolerance

When you are over weight, you will want to go on a weight reduction diet, this requires that you would Decrease Fat intake, Decrease Sugar Intake, Increase the intake of Fruit, Vegetables, Bread and Cereal ( preferably wholegrain) and limit your intake of Alcohol. If you are found to be over weight a balance


*Diet: Eating on a regular basis a high number of high-fat foods, such as fast foods, contributes to weight gain. High-fat foods contain allot of calories. Consuming a high number of soft drinks, candy and desserts also promotes weight gain. Foods and beverages like these are high in sugar and calories.

Having a heart attack, even a minor one can be a life changing event. But there are many things that you can do after you have had one to bring your body back to its original condition, improve your health and prevent another heart attack occurring. Things such as Get regular medical checkups, Control your blood pressure and have it tested every 2 years, Eat a heart-healthy diet and exercise on a regular basis.

*Alcohol: excessive drinking can raise your blood pressure , increasing your risk of heart attack.

*Family history of heart attack: Your siblings, parents or grandparents have had early heart attacks, this in some cases can put you at risk as well. Thus also your family may have a genetic condition that raises unwanted blood cholesterol levels.

I chose to prepare as the main course the Thai Chicken Salad and as the Desert a Tropical Touch Parfait. Both of these dishes will be able to be prepared in the allocated time span and both follow the medical problems that the family needs to abide by while preparing a meal. They are both not only healthy dishes but one that all will enjoy and will be able to prepare them self's in the future. Because of the types of dishes they can be eaten on a regular basis with a change of meat or dressing to make it more of a variety and to suit your taste and preference.

A heart attack is injury to heart muscle due to a loss of blood supply. It usually occurs when a blood clot blocks the flow of blood through a coronary artery a blood vessel that feeds blood to a part of the heart muscle. Interrupted blood flow to your heart can damage or destroy a part of the heart muscle. What you eat, how often you exercise and the way you deal with stress plays a role in how well you recover from a heart attack.
