Rochester, who is the owner of Thornfield. At the day of their marriage we find

out that Mr. Rochester is already married to a woman who has gone mad. Jane leaves

Mr. Rochester for this reason. Eventually Jane comes back to see Mr. Rochester only to

find out that he lost his vision and hand in a fire. Jane meets up with Mr. Rochester and

they end up getting married again.

I think the crucial part of the book that leads to the development of the plot was when Jane was beaten and abused when she was young. This made Jane a stronger and forceful person. Another thing that contributed to the plot was when Jane attended Lowood. At Lowood Jane learned how to deal with her problems and make friends. At Thornfield Jane shows many attributes of herself that support

Charlotte Bronte has a very unique style of writing. Charlotte's writing is a combination of symbolism, metaphors and similes. For example at the beginning of the book Jane compares Rev. Broklehurst to a " Tall Black Pillar." Also Jane is referred to as "little toad". This usage of metaphors and similes makes the story more interesting because it helps us as a reader to visualize what Jane is seeing. What also makes the story more enjoyable is Charlotte's use of symbolism. Each male symbolizes a different obstacle for Jane to over come, such as love, authority, power and attraction. One of the biggest obstacles presented to Jane by a male would have to be her attraction to Mr. Rochester. A better example of her use of symbolism is when Mr. Rochester proposes to Jane and at that same moment lighting strikes a tree. Bronte is comparing the life of the tree to the life of their marriage.

Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyre in chronological order, which made the reading easy to understand. Usually with the use of flashbacks the reader might have tendency to lose track of where they are in the story. Bronte didn't use this technique as often as she used foreshadowing. For example when Mr. Rochester proposes to Jane lightening strikes a tree which gives us the feeling that their marriage might not last that long.
