Qs) How far does a study of the site and other sources support this view?In an attempt to answer this question we used an array of resources. Some of the resources include a visit to Housesteads Fort on the wall itself. Also we used writing and artefacts both from the roman era. In addition to that we studied a video on Hadrian’s wall and have been reading a leaflet on it. Most of the evidence we used seemed to point to the conclusion that the life of the soldiers on Hadrian's wall was quite comfortable. The legionaries had at their disposal a first class hospital in which there was a trained surgeon, a herb garden, a toilet and a surgery room. The surgeon was trained in two acts cutting and sealing and in this practice speed was of the essence. They had a public toilets which for that era would have been very clean and a novelty.
