Report on Nothing But The Truth

In the book Nothing But The Truth, I feel that Philip's dad, Mr. Mallory, is to blame. For the spreading and the rumors of Philip showing his display of patriotism. There are several things that happened in the book that has led me to believe and feel this way. I feel that the whole incident was taken way to far. Things just started getting way out of control.

Now, I'm going to tell you about what happened in the book so that you'll feel that Mr. Mallory is to blame too. Philip does not like his English teacher Miss Narwin, because he got a "D" in the class, which makes it so that he can not make the track team. You have to have passing grades to make the track team at Philip's school. A "D" is not a passing grade at Philip's school. Instead of being mad at himself he's mad at Miss Narwin for it.

Phil found out that he got transferred into Miss Narwin's homeroom class too. Philip was pretty upset over this because he pretty much hates her for giving him a "D" in English. Every morning in homeroom the school plays the National Anthem. The first day that Philip was in Miss Narwin's homeroom during the song, he starting hummin


When Philip told her his story the facts were wrong that were printed in the paper. Philip's father thought that it was great that the stories were printed because he like all the attention that he was getting. He wanted to impress his boss and the people at work. All Philip's father cared about was that his son was getting all the attention, and made sure that everyone knew about it. Philip really could of cared less about the whole deal. It really wasn't a big issue to him. Philip just wanted things to go back to normal and get his old life back. Mr. Mallory is the one that didn't let that happen, he liked all the things that were happening. He tried to make himself look better and took advantage of the whole situation.

When Mr. Mallory got home he said that he never heard of such a thing as a kid getting kicked out of school for showing patriotism. Then he said that he was going to go and talk to the neighbor Ted Griffen who was running for the school board. But then Mr. Mallory started changing the story around saying that Philip was showing his patriotism by singing along with the National Anthem. When he was really
