I researched three toys in the boys' section of an anonymous store. The first toy a came across was a Spiderman figurine. The box was covered with webs and a picture of the Spiderman character from the movie. There was a clear cover over Spiderman, so the entire figurine could be seen. I next came to a whiffle ball and bat. The bat and ball were the classic yellow and white. The cardboard cover is where bias feelings were shown. The cover had two young boys enjoying there ball and bat. I feel that sales would be the same, if not greater, if there were a female and a male on the cover. This would create greater interest for young girls.

The third toy observed was also an athletic toy. I wanted to see if I could find a girl on a cover of a toy primarily aimed at young boys. I saw a Nerf football. To no surprise, the cover had two young boys playing catch in the yard. Even though the color of the football could have been classified as feminine, bright orange, the manufacturers made no attempt to draw female attention to this product.

The first toy I saw in the girls section was the "classic" Barbie doll. This toy had "girl" written all over it. The box is bright pink. The cover is clear, so that all the little girls can see the beautiful Barbie inside. The box also contains the accessories that Barbie comes with. My personal favorite is the brush, so that Barbie can never have a bad hair day. The next toy observed for girls was an "Easy Bake Oven."
