Revolution

A revolution by definition is the overthrow or renunciation of on ruler or government and substitution of another by the revolting party. Commonly the main purpose of the revolting party is good in intention, but sometimes it’s not in the best interest of the country. Normally they cause drastic changes in the government, but sometimes if they are quashed by the preexisting government, very few changes will occur. The French Revolution and the Glorious Revolution are two of the most famous revolutions in history.

James II was a Catholic monarch who went against the English parliament by putting Catholics in a position of power. This went against the Test act. The Parliament feared the influence of Catholics in the court of James II. James II had Protestant daughters so Parliament decided not to take immediate action.
