I really wish those terrorists hadn't flown planes into buildings. There is the whole loss of life thing but there is also the fact that America won't shut up about it. I'm so tired of hearing September 11th crap everywhere in the media that if I didn't know better, I'd enrol myself in flight school then board an American domestic flight to ease the pain. Of course I'm not actually that silly though.
A large part of my exasperation is caused by Bush. It's that blank eyed stare. Who elected him anyway? The US never should have gotten rid of Clinton. They were better off with a lying cheat than a goof like Bush. He makes up words that don't exist. He says things like "Rarely is the question asked: is our children learning". How can any country that elected him be taken seriously? I find Bush to be more offensive than any other leader of any other nation in my lifetime.
And now Iraq. Not only do we have to suffer through America glorifying September 11th, now we are subjected to Dubya's rhetoric on Iraq. Saddam, who has been quietly sitting around minding his own business has suddenly become a threat to all humanity. Apparently he has weapons of mass destruction. A year ago our government felt it was neccesary to join America in it's "fight against terrorism" in fear that we might lose certain trade agreements or friendships with them. We went along and helped the US in defeating the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and we are still on friendly terms with our neighbours. This new "threat" is not aimed at us though so we have no part it. Canada has to start making its own decisions and stay opposed to bombing Iraq. If we suck up to America every time they need support, we will continue to set the standard for future Canadians. We are a separate nation and we have our own political ideas. Taking a stand and showing America that we don't agree with their ideas will give us more political power and a stronger identity.
I am fearful that a lot of rash decisions are being made and that trouble is on the horizon. It is nonsensical to bomb a country that supposedly has the means to send a bomb right back. When nuclear warfare is involved there is no turning back, and after it's done there won't be any time to argue about who started it or why. It will be quite surprising to see if any other countries decide to join in a coalition against Iraq when almost all facts supporting it are completely speculative.
Most countries have weapons of mass destruction with which to protect themselves. Is America going to invade every country that has taken similar m
