Divorce and Children

1. General Subject: Divorce and Children

2. Thesis Statement: To make aware not only the cause of divorce, the effects

of divorce on children but also the prevention of divorce.

3. Probable Sources: Personal Opinion

One of the most important things for people to understand is that divorce affects all children differently, depending on their gender age and stage of development. Their world, their security and their stability seem to fall apart when their parents divorce. Divorce causes many different feelings and behaviors in children of all ages. The cause, effect and prevention of divorce should be very important to all married couples.

There are many causes of divorce. Not all marriages fail because of some reason. Nor is there usually only one reason for the breakdown of a particular marriage. Many marriages end becaus

e of poor communication. Poor communication often paves the way for other marital problems. Couples must share their thoughts and feelings or they risk losing focus on what is important in their marriage. Direct communication is always best. As the old saying goes: Mean what you say and say what you mean. Many communication problems may be the result of the different ways men and women tend to communicate things to each other. Each sex often expects a particular response when they say something, and some are surprised or often offended when they get a response they don't expect. Women often want their feelings acknowledged, while men want to fix things in order to solve problems. For example, a wife who complains about her terrible day at work probably wants empathy, not a discussion about what she should have done to avoid it. At the same time, a husband who asks his wife where she wants to go for dinner, probably wants an answer, not a vague response like "anything is fine
