Internet and Film a Comparrison
The Internet Compared to Film Elements The web site I chose to critique and compare was puma.com. Puma is an international company with production and distribution in more than 45 countries worldwide. This facts lends itself to the inciting incident that opens their website. Puma uses a flash based introduction that takes advantage of digital imaging, juxtaposing a tiger onto a European soccer field. Because the images are constantly moving, it brings the visitor's attention not only to the company's logo but also the headlines surrounding the images. The site I chose to identify as the worst website was geocities/siliconvalley/WW, standing for Worst Website. This site serves as a guide for webmasters of exactly what not to do when designing a site. The worst website holds true to it's name. The canonical is a boring, blank, black page and tempo is almost non-existent because there is no transitional effects from page to page. All in all the lack of contrasting colors, and the boring, blank page composition make the pages in this site just as entertaining as reading a term paper. As you move through the Puma web site there are several major decisions you must make, which set the stage for deciding which of the major "act" will be your starting point. Moving from the homepage, or inciting incident, you must chose to go to either a consumer/product act, which is divided into numerous scenes that are home to product information scenes, product ordering scenes, and billing information scenes. Within each of these individual scenes the background of the scene remains the same, with only the product picture or text changing with each click of the
