The chase for equality has haunted* many distinctive people throughout the history of mankind. Karl Marx, among the few who struggle to give an understanding on class system and alienation, work his way to give his view on the idea. His profound insight on the idea stunned enormous members of society including people in his time. In Marx's view, the primary division in industrial society was between the capitalists or bourgeoisie and the workers or proletariat. Almost all his work focusing on how the bourgeoisie exploited the proletariat and how the proletariat became alienated in the working force. Proletariat includes people from different stages of society. An 8-year-old boy and 20-year-old man has the same title that is workers if they work in a certain company or for certain people. In a conflict perspective, those are the people that are exposed of being exploited by the bourgeoisie.

The interview began with Mary. She was very excited to partake in the interview. She showed me her working place, it is quite a nice place to study and work at the same time. Right now she is working as an office assistant at PCL. I waited for a few minutes before she finished her work. She takes me a tour around his working place and gives a brief description of what she had to do everyday. She has to check out books to patron, helping them to find their books, and shelving books. The task that she has to do is very clear and she must do it according to the rules that are given.

Generally speaking, to get higher pay one must be willing to work hard and spend a lot of time on ones work. Finding a job is as hard as finding a wife. More or less you can get married to any woman but it is hard to find a perfect woman. In short, higher paying job requires degree or any relationship with the upper class society. Students are among the people who don't have a degree. They are lacking the means of mental production. In the other words they are subject to be controlled by the ruling class that at the same time has means of production and ruling intellectual force. In the case of Mary, she doesn't have a degree (lacking means of mental production) in nursing so she is subject to being exploited by the owner of the nursery.

The bourgeoisie or the ruling class has the power to determine the proletariat or the worker salary. They are the ruling power of a company. They are responsible to control large number of worker. In order to control and maintain order, supervision is enforced. Excessive controlled may affect the workers themselves. It may seem that they are forced to do the job. In short, their work is not voluntary but imposed, forced labors. The same characteristics arise in Mary's former working place. She was forced to do the entire job while being supervised by the owner of the nursery.

The proletariat working at these places gave a positive response toward their manager. They seemed to enjoy working and giving services to people at the same time. The felt satisfied on their work. On the other hand, the existence of getting personal profit through service to the community can not be denied.
