It had been a beautiful day. He thought. It would be the first day of the rains. The day began with dark overcast skies, holding heavy gray clouds, he knew a heavy downpour would occur. Now, towards evening, it had cleared up a bit, but the sun still tried to peek from behind the slumbering gray clouds. Although the sun had lost most of its heat, its light still shined, giving the clouds a silvery look as they reached down to touch the earth with its golden fingers.He stared blankly, aware yet unaware of his discomfort from the sun and the humidity. Today is much too beautiful a day to die, he thought. He imagined the rays of sun eating away at her body, slowing taking away the last of her until she would be gone from him forever. He paid no attention to the many friends that surrounded him. Some spoke words of sympathy as they passed, some patting him on the back not saying a word. They were grieving friends, their friends. No, they were her friends, all the people who had loved her. These friends loved her beauty, her kindness, compassion and warmth; the list goes on and on. He never had any friends he just had hers. She tried to smile her old smile and he tried to smile back. He just stared at her, wanting to tell her how much he wanted her to say. He felt as if his heart would explode with pain. He could speak no words, no words were needed. She understood, just like he did, nobody else needed to understand. I bet you won't change after I am gone, she said in short breaths. You won't make any friends, but you will continue to give money to charities secretly. You pretend you need no one, but you will go on helping anyone that is in need. You pretend to be so hard, yet you are so caring, and softhearted. You will continue to dislike animals thinking them dumb.
