The disadvantages of a largely bureaucratic government are as numerous as are the advantages. One of the cons is a thing called "Patronage." Basically this is where president appoints his buddies to certain positions or gives them and their company's grants with the whole quid pro quo mentality. Obviously this is a very graphic display of abuse of power. If caught and exposed to the public, it can lead to distrust among the constituents that will likely be long term. It is quite apparent that one can argue either for or against a "red tape" filled bureaucratic form of government. Both arguments can be seen as quite valid depending on personal opinion and historical fact. Through the research that I've done and the studies I've examined, I personally feel that this styling of government is needed in the United States. It is one of the many things that sets us apart from the various countries throughout the world. It allows for the individual and personal freedoms that we frequently take for granted.
