When most people hear of the word "eating disorder" they usually automatically assume that the person has some type of problem with food. Eating disorders are not a sign that a person has a problem with food, but are usually underlying problems in a person's life. Factors of people's life usually determine whether or not they will have an eating disorder. Eating disorder victims usually have low self-esteem and low self worth. Bulimia is much like anorexia but different in its own ways, although the reasons for doing it and the side effects are much the same then that of anorexia, the simple act is the only thing that varies. Bulimia is characterized by a cycle of binge eating followed by the purging of food to try to remove the excess calories from the body. Purging is not only the specific act of throwing up, but the other forms involve laxative abuse, excessive exercise, fasting and diet pills. Bulimics are usually people that do not feel secure about themselves. They look for the approval of others and they tend to do things to please others. Bulimia is a way of letting out feelings, which are trapped within the person.
