Many of his stories help reflect the fact that he had a strong sense of understanding life and people. He not only wrote fantastic stories, but he also taught lessons and ideas with them. So they drink the life nourishing waters to become young again only to become more depressed when they are once again aged. The inclusion of man vs. nature is vital to this story and vital to the lesson it teaches.
