Romeo and Juliet

Compare and Contrast the Characters of

Romeo, Mercutio and Benvolio are all characters that feature in William Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. They are three friends that have extremely different personalities.

At the start of the play in I.i Romeo believes that love is to be involved with hate, serious vanity and he also believes that love is confusion

"Here's much to do with hate, but more with love.

Romeo is very fickle because he falls in and out of love instantaneously. This is shown when Romeo is madly and deeply in love with Rosaline,

"In sadness cousin, I do love a woman"

But when he sees Juliet he forgets about Rosaline and falls madly in love with Juliet.

He is caring and extremely loving towards his friends (II.i), you can see how good a friend he is because he always listens to their problems and give good advice for them (I.i.).
