A detailed Summary of Losing control
Significant incidents can alter a person's best judgment and cause him to act out of the ordinary. An incident, such as this, happens to Sammy in John Updike's short story, "A&P." Working at a grocery store, Sammy is always ready for a little excitement. Due to the striking appearance of three half dressed girls, Sammy changes physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Like any teenage boy, Sammy allowed his hormones to get the best of him. He described the appearance of the first girl in a remarkable manner. Sammy said, "She was a chunky kid, with a good tan and a sweet broad soft-looking can with those two crescents
