Little Women

The book "Little Woman" is about four girls growing from childhood to womanhood. The main characters are Margaret, Jo, Beth, and Amy. Margaret the eldest is sixteen and wants to be rich and have the "pretty things" rich girls have. She is the prettiest of the four and is plump and has brown hair. Josephine is fifteen at the time and is the second oldest. She is a tomboy and is tall and thin. She loves to write stories about romance. Her hair is her one beauty, which is very thick. Elizabeth is thirteen and is soft and quiet and loves to play the piano. And Amy is twelve and is an artist. She has blond hair and blue eyes. They all have a sweet and gentle personality just as their mother Mrs. March. Who loves her daughters dearly and would do anything for them. Mr. March is away in the army at the time and the girls live with Mrs. March and Hannah, the maid. Margaret works as a governess, while Jo works and helps her aunt. Beth stays at home and helps Hannah keep the house orderly and neat. And little Amy goes to school.

The book takes place during Christmas and Meg and Jo are invited to a party. Meg begs Jo to act like a young lady. Jo said she would. So as Meg dances and flirts Jo, who does not like to dance, sits in the bac


In November the girls got a telegram stating that Mr., March was very sick and they wanted Mrs. March to come immediately. Mrs. March turned suddenly pale and told the girls to pack up her clothes. Mr. Brook heard the news and offered to come along to be Mrs.. March's escort. Jo ran out the house and came back with most of her hair cut off. She said it was her contribution toward comforting Mr. March and bringing him home safely. Everyone was socked and amazed that Jo cut off her one beauty. The next day Mrs. March was gone and left the Hannah to watch them and Mr. Lawrence for protection. The girls wrote their mother letters to keep her updated on all the stuff that was going on at home. Mrs. March wrote to them saying that Mr. March was getting better. The girls were so happy. But trouble strikes again when Beth goes to Hummel's, the next doors neighbor that are very poor, and helps take care of the sick children who have scarlet fever. Beth goes and comes back with out any one noticing until; Jo goes upstairs to see Beth on the medicine chest looking very grave. Jo asks what happened to her. Beth tells her that the baby died in her arms and that she might have scarlet fever. It turns out that she does and Amy is sent to Aunt March because she did not have it yet. Hannah says that Beth has to go to bed immediately. Meg says not tell Mrs. March of Beth's illness because, it might get her worried and have to leave fathers side. So, the girls lie and tell Mrs. March everything is fine.

One day when Laurie and Jo are hanging out Laurie asks her to marry him. Jo refuses and the same day she asks Mrs. March to send her to be a governess because Laurie is becoming to attach to her. Mrs. March agrees to this because Jo and Laurie need some space because they are too alike and perfect to be married. Jo leaves to be a governess and meets a professor at the home named Mr. Bhear. Jo and Mr. Bhear become good friends. Laurie goes to Rome to see Amy and becomes very attracted with her and she with him. At home Beth is getting sick again but does not tell anyone. Finally Jo comes home and Beth tells her that she is dying. Jo had a feeling something was wrong but was not sure. Jo spends allot of time with Beth as she is about to die and soon Beth does. In Rome Laurie proposes to Amy in a boat. Jo is devastated over Beth's death and so are Mr. and Mrs.. March but they tell her she is in a better place. Then Jo gets a surprise visit from Mr. Bhear who proposes t
