Throughout the play Antigone, written by Sophocles, Creon makes errors in judgment that eventually leads to the death of his wife, son, and Antigone. His headstrong and obstinate way of ruling is what causes his own demise. He believes that he is above the gods, and even what they say cannot influence his actions. "My voice is the one voice giving orders in this city!" (p.515 ll.105)

The major error in judgment that Creon makes is his decision to give Eteocles a proper burial and not Polyneices. The gods say that everyone deserves the right of a proper burial, yet Creon decides that he has the power to deny this right. If he had just went along with what the gods said, he would not have had a problem. He favored Eteo
