A detailed Summary of Hamlet
Hamlet failed to succeed in life, which led to his demise. Hamlet was a failure because he hardly ever expressed his true feelings about people and certain situations. Also, he was way too emotional at certain times. His emotions would get out of control sometimes and that had a bad effect on him. Hamlet was also too arrogant with a lot of things he did. He believed he was better than most people so that led to his death.
Hamlet hardly ever expressed his true feelings. In the play Hamlet tells Ophelia that he does not love her and when he told her he loved her before he was lying, " you should not have believed me; for virtue cannot so inoculate our old stock but we shall relish of it: I loved you not" (Act III, sc. I). This really upset Ophelia so it started a lot of problems and it ended up turning out really bad. Another time where he didn't express his true feelings was when he defended his father's honour to fight laertes. Hamlet despised his fath

Hamlet agrees even though he knows he might lose, " I will win for him an I can; if not, I will gain nothing but my shame and the odd hits" (Act V, sc. II). If he was honest and didn't fight he would have survived.
Hamlet throughout the play is very arrogant and boastful. He tries to be play mind games with Ophelia. Hamlet says that he does not love Ophelia even though he loves her so much. He assumes that he will still be able to have her, he is just biding his time and trying to make her come to him. He loves her a lot of I don't think he would risk messing things up with her if he wasn't so sure that he had her where he wanted.
