The Child Buyer

The novel The Child Buyer is a story of an investigation into the activities of Mr. Wissey Jones, a stranger who comes to the town of Pequot on information of national defense. The business of Mr. Wissey Jones is to buy for his corporation children of certain intelligences, in this case a ten-year-old named Barry Rudd, a boy genius of potentially critical value to national defense. A hearing is held and questions are asked, why would someone want to buy a child, and why would someone want to go about not respecting the morality of a human life.

This story takes place in a small town in the Northeastern United States. The name of this town is Pequot. It has a population of about twelve thousand five hundred people. They have two high schools, three junior highs and eight elementary schools. There has been large growth in the amount of houses being built in the area. The town has its own general store with all the accommodations of a small town. For entertainment they have a movie theatre and a bowling lanes. During the novel there are many scenes that happen. The main scene in the book is the investigation of the activities of Mr. Wissey Jones. Throughout this investigation there are many people that take

I really don't think that there could be a better ending besides the one that the author provides. I do think that there could be other endings but not as good as the ending that the author provided.

the stand to testify what they know about the new stranger to Pequot. The investigation takes place in room 429 in the capital offices with senator Aaron Mansfield, the presiding judge. Senators Skypack and Voyolko also a member from the committee counsel his name was Mr. Donald R. Broadbent. In this scene Mr. Broadbent was interrogating Charles Perkonian a young boy that is best friends with Barry Rudd. Mr. Broadbent was trying to pry open Charles for information about a stink bomb that went off in the auditorium of Lincoln school, with the state Supervisor in it. The young boy was anything but helpful. Every time Mr. Broadbent asked him a question Charles would forget what day it was and what happened. He seemed to be very nervous having people asking him questions. During this interrogation many people including Mr. Broadbent were getting very impatient with the young boy. I think that the committee was expecting for this little twelve year old to tell them everything they wanted to know about the stink bomb and what he knew about Mr. Jones Wissey. After a long and tedious interrogation with the witness, the committee realized that they were not getting anywhere. During this interrogation and throughout this novel I think that the atmosphere of the environment had a big impact on the way that the characters acted. During the investigation many of the witness that took the stand to defend themselves and to tell what they knew about Mr.Wissey Jones. I think that for the majority of the people that took the stand they were extremely nervous. The atmosphere was very over whelming. This was the first time that this town had seen something of this scale. So many of the witness might have doubted themselves or weren't sure about themselves.

I think this story for the most part is realistic because it's something that could happen if society eliminated common morality and would sell their own people. This could happen if one day everyone said who cares what h
