Through his use of imagery, Robert Frost paints a picture for his audience that shows how emotional ignorance can lead to tragedy. According to Jay Parini in Robert Frost: A Life, Frost uses a lot of landscape depiction and imagery because of his Northern New England influence. Frost grew up surrounded by lush valleys, rocky mountains, dry stone walls, and forests. In 1914, Frost published his narrative poem "Home Burial". At this time, society dictated that men should not show their true feelings. Therefore, men such as Amy's husband tended to deal with conflicts by working hard and acting somewhat domineering. This is the root of the problem in "Home Burial".
