A Path Through Faith

I was born to a non-denomination family in 81'. When I was young I wasn't involved in any church in any way. My parents decided that I would make up my own mind in the future what I would believe and what I wouldn't. In fourth grade I went to school at St. John Vianney in the Spokane Valley. This was my first encounter with a religion and really talking about God at all. I wasn't at prepared for what I was getting into. Everyone else in my class had been brought up in part by the Catholic Church. When I was asked if I were Catholic or not and I answered "no", the kids in my class kind of acted shocked, as if I was alien to them. Which I really was. So being young and unable to make decisions for myself I quickly fell into doing what they did simply to fit in. As I grew up I became more and more into the Catholic religion. Then I left that school an

d attended Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy which was a public school "with privileges." They could teach the world religions class and not really underline any given religion but treated them all the same. So I went through that class as an eighth grader and it broadened my vision to many other religions that ended up being more interesting to me than the Catholic religion. For two years I was away from the Jesuit education style and then I came back into it last year as a freshman. Throughout my freshman year I began to notice the kids that were "brought up Catholic". Meaning in my words from first grade on they were involved in church groups and going to mass at least once a week and were told to read the Bible before they went to bed. And then I compared myself to them wondering if I would be who I am today if my parents made me go to church every Sunday
