Citizen Kane (1941) is a movie about the life of Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles) told through the eyes and stories of close friends and distant ones. We never see Kane's life through the eyes of Kane. We watch as reporter, Thompson investigates the meaning of Kane's last word; Rosebud. After we back up far enough, we see a quick camera movement as Teddy dies now going frontward. In the concluding, sequence, we watch as Thompson meets up with fellow reporters to explain how and why he never found what 'Rosebud' was. We watch the men leave, and we follow a crane propelled camera through Kane's enormous collection of statues, till we as viewers find out what 'Rosebud' is or means.
