A life filled with dissatisfaction often leads to changes. In the book, The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Mrs. Pontellier, the protagonist, doesn't own a life with happiness and her desires. These circumstances get her to think and develop new ideas and perspectives that boost her to progress with her own life style. This surrounds her with unhappiness that soon becomes more intense within her. Throughout the book, Edna changes to be more aware of her needs and more self-possessed of her life due to the fact that she wanted to be somebody in life and she wanted to control her own life.
In the beginning of the book, we are introduced to a sensitive woman that lacks the ability to rebel and stand by her own beliefs; this soon changes because she needs to be satisfied and to have a little spark of excitement in her ordinary life as a mother.
