Native American Values and Philosophy

The values and philosophies of the world, Native Americans, and I differ in many ways. Some areas in question are our personal differences, quietness, patience, mutualism or equality, and spirituality. Some, however, are very similar, in literature for instance, the power of our words, as well as the value of life, and the preservation of nature.

In the world today our personal differences are sometimes interpreted differently than many people want them to be. Our personal differences are what make each of us special, but people who see individuality as bad, make conclusions that separate us. This is the composition that makes all of us up. Our world is filled with many things that distract us and want us to buy something, do something, or help promote something. This, shall we say, "advertisement" is what makes the world a very loud and busy place. With all of the commotion going on patience is very short and not seen as often. This could lead to violence and disruptions in the everyday lives of the people who inhabit our world, which brings me to mutualism and/or equality. Violence occurs for many reasons but none as basic as equality differences. If someone is not an equal to another there is tension which may build up and c

The values of our planet may be little things but they are what make up the over six billion people who live on earth. The values of the world, Native Americans, and I are different but are something we all keep close to us. That is what makes us all the same.

ause the differences to show and create, maybe violence or dislike for them. This is what separates our values in the world. For instance spirituality can be interpreted two ways. One is that it is non-existent, and the other is that it is a part of their everyday life. Whether it is prayer at night or for something that has happened or has passed in time, or it might be weekly prayer at church. Keeping in touch with our spirit is important, without it we would all be lifeless. Our spirit is what drives us to succeed and do the right thing. Tied in with this is the power of our words. The words used in prayers make up what is trying to be conveyed. Words also can tell our emotions and feelings, and create stories which tell about history or ideas and events which have occurred. The words in this paper make up the ideas which are trying to be let out to the readers. Words truly are the one thing that cannot be taken away from anybody. They are owned by those who speak them and can make the difference between what is meant and what wants to be said. Without them we would not be complete. The world around us is important to all of us. This is one concept that most humans on the planet see as an important topic. If we don't strive to for peace and equality we just might see an end to life and all its cultures. The creatures of the planet and all of its resources also need to be preserved for life to continue. With resources running low and land depleting we need to find ways to take car of what we have, otherwise we will live in a waste land in the future. The world's values are different from person to person but everyone on earth values something. This is what makes us all alike.

The Native Americans of today are almost the exact opposite of every other culture out there. Their values are sacred and make up the culture we know as Indians. The name Indian is incorrect due to the mistake of Christopher Columbus thinking he landed in India, I won't get into history so I will refer to the "Indians" as Native Americans. They don't look at personal differences; they see
