Sacrifice
The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person. Sacrifices can be placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit someone else. In the following paragraphs, I will give explanations about the sacrifices that people have made such as food, time, comfort, and roles of being a parent. The first sacrifice I will talk about is food in Andre Dubus' story "The Fat Girl." Louise sacrificed her love of food to benefit her mother. When Louise and her mother ate together it never seemed to be enough to fill up on, so when she knew her mother was not paying any mind to her she would push food up her blouse until she got some place safe enough to consume it. A different example of giving up food would be while Louise was in high school; she sacrificed her food by not eating a large amount. In fact, she overheard her friend sayin
