The legalization of marijuana deserves to be looked at as a topic of legalization. Different options need to be considered in legalizing weed. America should take certain actions in a step towards legalizing weed, and concentrate on keeping the harder drugs, such as heroin, crack, and cocaine illegal. Vidal's idea of legalizing all drugs is a bit farfetched, but legalizing weed with a description is ideal. With something similar to the Surgeons General warning found on cigarettes would be a possible idea for weed. Which stirs up the topic of more teens smoking weed if it is made legal, but the reason why teens use it is because of the risk and rush. It boosts their adrenalin by using it. Now if it were legal this would decrease as it did in the Netherlands. With the legalization of weed, crime rates will decrease, and the majority of the people in jail would be free. Most people are in jail due to some-related drug charge, or violent crimes convicts commit to get money to meet their needs for these drugs. The Netherlands, where marijuana is legal, has seen a dramatic decrease in crime rates, since legalizing "weed." Though with weed being legal certain restrictions apply. Certain restrictions like, those seen in Dutch coffee houses, were you can legally smoke and sell weed.
