In Buddhism, meditation can be considered, as the form of practice used to achieve the fundamental belief or goal, Nirvana or Enlightenment. The term "Enlightenment" basically means, to give clearer views to; to enable to see or comprehend truth; to free from ignorance, prejudice, or superstition.
