I have always envied those people who knew what they wanted to do with their lives because I was never one of them. I had been leaning toward the business world for a long time, but it's a big world and there were so many directions to choose from. One day in eighth grade we had a career day at our middle school and I signed up to see a presentation on marketing communications not really having any clue what that was. When the hour had passed I had finally figured out what I wanted to do. I had discovered a career that would suit me perfectly. High school followed shortly after I had made this decision and many math classes came along with it. I was never too fond of math but I'm sure it doesn't speak too highly of me either. I knew there was no getting around it so I did what I had to do.
Any kind of economic problem requires some form of math. This has become very apparent to me as I work on the assignments in class. There is a very good reason why math and all the other GE classes are required. Having a well rounded curriculum makes you a well rounded person. When you have to take courses in many different subjects it makes you open your eyes to the many different careers. It also gives you a chance to explore all that is out there.
Being just a month into my college career, it has already become very apparent to me how much math affects my daily life. I have used math in some way in all of my classes except English, and now I am using English skill in math. I realize how important math really is in the everyday world and I know why it is continually a required subject. Math surrounds us on
