You stare into a mirror. The reflection glaring back at you is one that you can barely recognize. Your skin is ghostly white and malnourished. Tears begin to stream down your emaciated cheeks, as you strain to reach up and whip them. All you have ever known is the story of abuse and neglect. The thoughts of bouncing from foster home to foster home are your fondest memories . The feeling of loneliness has engulfed you from as far back as you can remember. You visualize the beatings, the screaming, and the tears that you have endured. Shivers race up your spine as you fall on your shaking knees and pray. You pray that one day a family will reach out to you. You pray that one day just maybe you can be loved, regardless of who the family is, just as long as you can feel love. Millions of same sex couples are ready and willing to provide a happy home for neglected children. However society does not permit this, and so you are still alone, and will be for some time. If a male/female relationship is the only just way to raise a family, why are divorce rates sky rocketing? Dad leaves. Mom is left alone to raise and nurture the child. The number of single mothers, or ever single fathers has risen dramatically. However, there is no evidence that there are more homosexual children because of this. Many individuals believe that "...if 'normal' development does not take place, the person is, almost by definition, abnormal." Would someone please like to define what exactly this "abnormality" consists of? If two individuals have the ability to support and provide for a child, then there is no reason that they should not have the capability to do so. We must consider the helpless children in the world, eager to be loved. We neglect these children, just as we neglect two same sex individuals from enjoying the joy of having a child. There are billions of parents in the world that are far from being fit. Alcoholics, drug users, child abusers, etc. However, simply because there is a male and a female role-model parenting these children, it is acceptable? Two stable women, or men could obviously raise these same children in a healthier environment then that of the drug users. Why are we so naive?
