Does Age Really Matter
“Prohibition makes you want to cry in your beer, and denies you the beer to cry into.” This quote by Don Marquis conveys how a large majority of teenagers, as well as people of legal drinking age, feel about the laws prohibiting alcohol to people under twenty-one. These people want the legal drinking age lowered from twenty-one to eighteen. They feel like, if a person is old enough to vote and fight for their country, then they should be able to have an alcoholic beverage if they choose. Opposers to this ideal think that the law should stay as it is because they feel that people under twenty-one are not mature enough to drink responsibly. I have taken the side of the opposers. The legal drinking age should not be anything but twenty-one and older. Seventy percent of all teenagers drink alcohol [First Eagle], which they have no business doing.
