There is a strange phenomenon that makes people act the way they do. This is especially true when one person is surrounded by unknown people. When one encounters this situation, they tend to hide and try to ignore the surrounding people. Yet, when there is just one person present, their behavior is completely different. What is it about a person that makes them behave this way? Unfortunately, human behavior is so complex; it is hard to narrow down the exact reason.
To better understand how people interact, one must observe others actions in a set environment. The first example is commonly found in a waiting room. There are three people sitting on a bench; two men and a woman. The man on the left is staring off into the parking lot that is just outsid
e the window. There is nothing going on in the parking lot, but he is content with having no eye contact with anyone else. The woman is hiding her face in a magazine. She seems as though the it is a best-seller novel and she can't wait to read it entirely. The second man is sitting in between these two people and is gazing at the paintings on the wall. As soon as the man on the left gets up to enter the next room, the awkwardness in the room lessens slightly. The man in the middle quickly moves down the bench and glances at the woman. She quickly looks up from her reading and checks the room. She begins to stretch out a little and gives a slight smile to the remaining man. . All of these people are showing a common behavior, all in which include having little or no eye contact.
