Slavery
African Americans were among the people who were enslaved at the time in the 18th century. Most of the slaves were located in the south. There are three main things that helped the slaves to overcome these troubles of slavery, by no means did they make up for the torture they were put through; however, they did help to pass time. The 3 main things the slaves did to over come these time were, practicing old African pastimes, tricking their masters, and rebelling. First, the Africans had to keep there heritage alive by practicing it everyday. They practiced such things as telling old folktales, dance, music, and religion. The folktales they told back then would be considered old ghost stories or stories that teach something, in our time. The dance they did was dances they practiced in their home country before they were removed for slavery.
