Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Try to imagine living in a fast-moving kaleidoscope, where images, sounds, and thoughts are constantly changing. You feel really bored, yet helpless to keep your mind on what you are supposed to be doing. Unimportant sights and sounds are constantly grabbing your attention, and your mind drives you from one thought or activity to the next without stopping to think about it. For many people this is what it is like to have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). In my opinion ADD and ADHD are major disorders that need to be paid attention to not only in the classroom but in the workplace too. What is it like for those with ADD or ADHD in school or in the workplace? Kids in grade school often have a very rough time. Impulsively blurting out questions and answers with out permission, or jumping out of their desk to go sharpen a pencil 5 times in one morning, are typical behaviors of kids with ADD or ADHD in grade school. A high school student might find classes that require a lot of attentiveness such as Algebra and or Biology very troubling. They might find school extremely boring and therefore put little effort into it, resulting in low grade
