“How Does Time Affect Our Judgments”

Time can change a person’s view on things, but at the same time, it can also give you a clearer understanding of a problem. As we allow ourselves to slowly analyze the problem. We are able to have a more neutral perspective, where we can control our emotional side from distorting our judgments. For example after you broke up with your boyfriend, you felt upset and vulnerable. Your emotional side started to take control of you. Due to your emotional unrest you may steer your anger towards your boyfriend blaming him for the break up or vice versa if you have a girlfriend, but what had actually happened was that it was just a mutual separation. In this case time allows you to think through what was the actual cause of the separation.

Richard Rodriquez wrote his autobiography after twenty or so years had passed. His perspective, when he was a child would have been different from the perspective that he had twenty years later. From reading his autobiography we were able to learn about his life and a have a vague idea of his thoughts and feelings. But are these feelings or thoughts necessarily his true feelings.
