The Catcher In the Rye
The good and bad aspects of society are just one of the things taught in chapters eighteen and nineteen of The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. The main character, Holden Caulfield goes through many ups and downs and changes trough his journey in New York City. He figures out what life really is like on his own and has to cover many obstacles on his way. Holden is very worried about how other people act and how they are putting on an act but in these chapters he comes to realize who he really is better than he did before. “ I had quite a bit of time to kill till ten o’clock, so what I did, I went to a movie at Radio City. It was probably the worst thing I could’ve done, but it was near, and I couldn’t think of anything else” (137), Holden says as he heads for the movies. Holden always talks about how crummy he thinks the movies are. Nothing in the movies are real. They are all just crummy and pointless
