Is downloading songs off of Napster morally acceptable?
My first inclination is to say, no, that downloading an entire song from the Internet is stealing. The artist who recorded the song would actually think so, along with the record label company. It seems quite simple that if a person produces a product then that person is entitled to the profit made by selling that product. That individuals' effort, time, and money, to name a few, were put into making the product. So yes, to have consumers download the product, in this case a song, for free does in the fact constitute stealing.
