The Odyssey
Although I am only fifteen years old I feel as if I have been on this earth far longer than most of my peers, mostly from the many things I have experienced or my journeys. In this essay I will tell the story of, what I believe is the biggest and most important journey I have faced yet. My relationship with my father… When my parents divorced I was only five years old. For the next four years my time was split evenly between my two homes. In 1995 my mother moved to Bayville and my sister and I came with her. During the next two years my mother made sure I saw my father every weekend. We would take trips up to the rest stop on the parkway where we would meet my father. We would spend the weekend on Staten Island. Things felt normal because we were used to it by now. We were the typical family of the 90’s. In October of 1996 my father came down to Bayville to pick us up. He and my mother had always tried to keep the rules of the houses the same, but we were growing up and testing the limits. On this particular Saturday my father arrived while my sister and I were fighting and he did not like what he saw.
