Machines Are Somebody
“Rise and shine,” Mom announces through the bedroom door, “Your alarm should have gone off by now. Did you set it?” I get up and check it only to find that the wake to music feature is set like always and it is the alarm that has decided not wake me up just to make me late again. The coffee maker chirps sweetly telling me its morning brew is ready and waiting for me. I am thankful I do not have to fight with it to get my cup of java that must accompany me on my drive to class. I do not think I could get moving in the morning without the reliable service of hot, fresh brewed coffee to take with me in the morning.
