Steroids have been around for a long time. The first reported uses of steroids were in the early to mid 1930s. However steroids were not introduced to the United Sates until the early 1950s. Now steroids are very common throughout high school athletics as long as college and professional athletics. Athletes get so competitive and caught up with success that they do whatever means necessary to maintain their competitive edge no matter what the consequences are. Steroids are illegal drugs containing excessive amounts of testosterone. In some cases, athletes use horse testosterone in which the steroids are for “horse use only”. These steroids help horses gain and maintain muscle. Steroids are not social ably acceptable. No athlete should lower themselves to the means of taking steroids.
