A ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is a comedy written by William Shakespeare. The story has four sets of lovers, who have difficulties with their relationships. Lysander, a lover in the play said, ‘The course of true love never did run smooth.’ This statement is true for this play. Hermia and Lysander were in love with each other and both wanted to marry. The problem was that Egeus, Hermia’s father decided that his daughter should marry Demetrius. Hermia was against this. Egeus takes Hermia to court to see if could sort this out. Hermia is told by the Duke of Athens, Theseus, said that she must marry Demetrius become a nun or die. Hermia and Lysander decide to run away together, Lysander tells Hermia, ‘Athenian Law cannot pursue us.’ In the end the Duke allows them to be married.
