Global Warming

Today, the world is facing an environmental Global Warming. Many people around the world are trying to remind the others, and many smart people are trying to think how to stop it. Of course there are some others out there who say that global warming is imaginary, and they think that the earth is causing it, and that thing will not be permanent. But for now, we can see that global warming is real. We can look at the cause; it is effects and, how it can be prevented,

Unfortunately, it is not easy to answer.

Global warming is caused by the entrapment of heat through "greenhouse gases". Greenhouse gases are gases such as Carbon dioxide, Methane, and Nitrogen oxides. There are a total of about thirty greenhouse gases, but forty percent of global warming is caused by carbon dioxide alone. Since too many trees are being cut down and are not there to "eat and digest" the carbon dioxide, the amounts of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere each year are growing bigger. Many of the gases enter the atmosphere when fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, are burned. The sun actually can penetrate the gases, but unfortunately cannot escape them so easily. As the heat builds up in the atmosphere, so does water vapor. It is

a viscous cycle. Higher temperatures evaporate more water, and water vapor traps heat in the atmosphere even better than Carbon dioxide. But without these gases, the world would be seventy-two degrees Fahrenheit cooler, and this is too cold to support life. In the long run, if the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere increases, the earth will eventually become too hot for habitation.

the polar ice caps melted just one inch, they would flood coastal cities. Since 1990, the sea level has risen about four to six inches. It is predicted that by the middle of next century the sea could have risen three feet, which would mean the flooding of cities like New York, London, etc. Thousands of people and animals would lose their shelters. Many of the United States' most productive cities are coastal cities. Their destruction could begin the demise of our civilization. As we know, global warming has many devastating effects, and possibly even more that we cannot conceive of until they actually read on to see how the world is trying to prevent it from happening. The biggest problem is getting everyone in the world to do his or her part. Some solutions might cause certain industries to economically suffer, or just cost too much money. This creates a gridlock situation that many people are undecided upon. Everyone on earth needs to come together and help out with cost effective solutions.

chlorofluorocarbons, or CFC's. CFC's come from aerosol cans, solvents etc. and basically eat away at our ozone layer, allowing more heat to penetrate the atmosphere. Hopefully, the government will pass more laws similar to the Clean Air Act that will help prevent global warming. Some of the possible solutions the government is discussing are expanding the use of other sorts of power, and working on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Solar energy and nuclear energy don't produce greenhouse gases, therefore it help preven
