Why Be Afraid of Death?
Why would I be afraid of death? When I die I will not have anything to worry about like a job, grades and monthly payments and taxes. The only catch is that to pass over into death, one must first go through the dying process. Why would I be afraid of dying? Dying is as natural as life but is feared with a negative connotation because dying can involve a great deal of suffering and pain. Drowning, being burnt alive and being stuck in a hospital are the ways of dying that I fear the most. When a person drowns he/she is obviously suffocated. When a person cannot hold his/her breath anymore the lungs contract with a force that, along with the water pressure, causes pain and panic so that the person gasps and inhales water. When this much water rushes into the lungs where air should be the tissue responsible for respiration literally explode, causing severe pain. 2-3 heartbeats after water is inhaled, the brain is suffocated of oxygen which causes a severe stroke. If the person wasn’t lucky enough to go into shock, they will feel every bit of this asphyxiation for up to five minutes.
