September 11th (911)
September 11, 2001, started off like any other day. I drove to school in my usual morning stupor, and went to my first hour, Bible as Literature with Dr. Lynn Moyers. We were working on a project in the library that day. September 11, brought nothing out of the ordinary, until I reached my second hour, Comparative Religion with Mr. Fritz, there a student by the name of Linda told the class that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center's Towers. At that time my class and I did not think much of the situation. Mr. Fritz, a social studies teacher, on the other hand did. Mr. Fritz explained the forty year history of the World Trade Center. During the day news stations had made assumptions of who and what might have been the cause of these attacks, but there were no real specifics until the evening I suppose our government had to regroup and review. The big lead I remember was when they found some plans in Florida organizing these attacks. This is about the time Osama Bin Laden's name got thrown into the mix. I didn't and don't understand how a group of This only covers half of the story. While all of this was occurring in New York City CNN began broadcasting news about other planes crashing across our nation. One report being about our nation's defense center, the Pentagon. If I remember correctly this is about the time that all U.S. airways were shut down. Shutting down the airways seemed like a bigger deal than all the crashes that were being reported. All of these acts occurred while I still resided in my second hour. A little later in the day another report made headlines. A plane touched down in a field in Pennsylvania.
