The Matrix
"The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truthK Unfortunately, no one can be told what the matrix is; you have to see it for yourselfK" V This quote is by Morpheus explaining to Neo what the matrix is. This quote by far, is my favorite from the movie The Matrix. I think that for future classes in sci-fi this film should definitely be shown. I think that this movie has to be the best science fiction movie ever made that has to do with things like technology and artificial intelligence. In this paper I plan to take a closer look into the different topics in this movie, such as; the characters importance's, The Matrix verses the Real World, Artificial Intelligence, The Construct, and any other important aspect of this movie that is important. So please, sit back, take the red pill, and let me show you how deep this rabbit hole can goK First, I'd like to start out by giving my "take" on the main characters.
The "A.I.'s": Agent Smith, Agent Brown, and Agent Jones. The construct is also capable of displaying a training simulator. For example the famous fight scene between Neo and Morpheus. First Tank loaded Neo's mind with fighting styles like Jujitsu and Tae Kwon Doe, then loaded the fighting complex. Morpheus asks Neo why he thinks that he lost. Neo responded by saying Morpheus was too fast. Morpheus told Neo that in the matrix (and construct), that him being stronger, or faster had nothing to do with his muscles there. „« Agent Jones & Agent Brown: silent, but deadly, I guess you could call these two guys Agent Smith's sidekicks. All they really do is help him chase around anyone that's been unplugged. „« Agent Smith: Major Jerk. Smith is a computer (Sentient) program designed to keep peace among those in the matrix. Desperate to get the hell out of there, he's trying to find access codes to Zion's mainframe. Cold, dark, and dreary. These are only a few words that could be used to describe the real world. We are informed that the humans "gave birth" to artificial intelligence, the robots took over, and of course, the war began. Since they were running on solar power, some "genius" decided to scorch the sky, in hopes of the shutting down the machines so that they are not able to run anymore. And of course, they were wrong. „« Trinity: Another of the gifted people that know what the matrix is. She also used to be a hacker. She's pretty much the "bad-ass/ kick-ass" chick of the movie. The oracle told her she'd fall in love with "The One", she tries to deny it but eventually, she loves him. Switch was also a strong female character. Although she ended up being killed, she was a serious bad-ass, and didn't seem to show much tenderness except until Apoc is killed; whether he was a love interest or just a friend she obviously had a soft spot in her heart for him.
