Recently the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held a meeting addressing censorship of television and radio. Censorship has been a highly controversial topic since the 1920's, when the regulation of radio broadcasts began. People on both sides of the censorship controversy have valid points.
Some television production companies and musical artists believe that the first amendment gives them the right to broadcast their work without being censored. They are against the federal government having the power to alter their work. There is also a fear of losing other constitutional rights.

An experience that I had working at Best Buy was with the explicit content on parental advisory compact disks. Contrary to what most people may think, there is no age requirement to purchase these compact disks. The parental advisory labels are strictly for parents to be able to use as a guide when they purchase compact disks for their children. Some retailers will only sell parental advisory or explicit content compact disks to people 18 and up; for example Blockbuster Music and Warehouse Music are two such retailers. It is my belief that uncensored explicit compact disks should be sold only to people 18 and up. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should also make recording companies manufacture censored compact disks for people 18 and under.
