The main idea I think John Howard Griffen was trying to bring to his audiences attention was how un-equal people are treated just because of the colorof their skin. He gets into and really gets his reader to understand and feel the effects or racism today in America. A white person will be able to read this book and finally understand what all of the great black people of the past had to endour through out their entire lives. John Howard is the main character of the book. He is a man who loves adventure, and adventure is what he loves. I don't think he expected for things to be as bad as they were, because if he did I doubt he would do it anyway. I would like Howard Griffen if I met him and knew what he was doing. I would think very highly of him and respected his and his decision. I could have connected with him because if I had the chance of walking in a white man's boots for the day I would do so. The main problem he had to deal with was racism and discrimination. Of course he could not really solve the problem, at least he now knows what black people had to go through and he will know to think again before discriminating. It is always fun to see something through someone elses perspective.
