The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
The book I read is The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. It is a play written by William Shakespeare around 1595. The book is edited by Barbara A. Mowat and Paul Werstine. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is published by Pocket Books in New York, NewYork. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet has three protagonists, Romeo Montague, Juliet Caplulet and Friar Lawrence. Romeo is the young handsome son of a rich Montague family. Juliet is the young beautiful daughter of the rich Caplulet family. Friar Lawrence is the religious person in Romeo's life. The antagonists are Romeo and Juliet's families. The families have been feuding for years. Members of the families fight whenever they see each other. Many family members have been killed in the fights. The problem is that Romeo and Juliet fall in love at first sight, at a masquerade party given by Juliet's father. Romeo had slipped into this party wearing a mask, actually hoping to get a glimpse of Rosaline, a girl he thought he was in love with. When Romeo sees Juliet, however, her beauty immediately strikes him. Rom
Romeo tries to resolve the problem of being in love with someone from a feuding family by arranging a secret marriage. Romeo goes to visit Friar Lawrence. He tells the Friar to secretly marry them. The friar agrees to marry them. The Friar hopes that the marriage will end the feuding between the two families. Romeo sends for Juliet and they are secretly married in the friar's cell. I think this is a good book mainly because it is a classic and because it is a touching story. The best part of the book to me is when Romeo and Juliet secretly marry. The one thing I don't like about this book is that it is written in old English. If it wasn't written in old English, I think I would have a better understanding of the dialogue. I hope some of my friends read this book because it is a great story. I hope to read more of Shakespeare's work later in life. Juliet learns of Tybalt's death and Romeo's banishment. She is upset about Romeo's banishment, but her father thinks she's grieving over Tybalt's death. Her father arranges her marriage to another man, Paris. Juliet
